Oh boy...
The past few days have been podcasting days.
UP DILC will be conducting a workshop for all the ILCs in the UP System. One of the topics to be covered is podcasting and I guess I am the default person to handle this.
I am still in the research process but I have a tendency to over research something as one link leads me to another link that I lose focus of what I started out with.
There is more information now about podcasting than 6 months ago when I started looking into this topic. There are no pedagogical studies for the creation of podcasts and their use in education which can guide teachers who are planning to use this technology in their teaching.
Podcasting is also my research topic for one of my graduate classes in Education. So I guess I am hitting two birds with one stone. Hopefully I will be able to finish everything in time. Actually, I have an hour and a half to finish my homework for today. I better get back to that right now. :)
I spent the night watching two interesting movies: Runaway Jury and Under the Tuscan Sun.
I have see Runaway Jury already but I was still intrigued about the process of jury selection. There is always a way to get to people. I remember the joke about the mp3 player but cant remember the context of it. This movie was also a reason I started reading John Grisham novels.
Under the Tuscan Sun was very very intriguing in a different way. I had no idea what the story was gonna be so it was a thrill watching it not knowing what to expect. The movie was about a writer who was trying to get over a divorce by buying a villa in Tuscany, Italy. Those Italian men and their Italian moves... Amore! I was surprised seeing Sandra Oh (of Grey's Anatomy) in the cast. Its a girly movie and "touristy" showing you breathtaking sights of Italy. Mama mia!
If you are expecting a movie review, I don't think I would want to go that path yet. ;) Maybe just a good/bad/ok rating.
Runaway Jury: good [ * * * ]
Under the Tuscan Sun: good [ * * * ]
I got stuck!
The Apple remote desktop license we had in the office expired Dec. 31, 2006.
Good thing the Xserve allows vnc connections. All you need to do is enable it. You do this by going to system preference, sharing and then set the vnc password under the Apple Remote Desktop setting. But you do this via the GUI. But what do you do when you don't have a GUI to work with?
I googled for a way to enable VNC via the terminal and found this link:
http://www.macgeekery.com/tips/cli/setting_remote_desktops_vnc_password_in_terminal
I did try out the script but was still unable to login to the server using chicken of the vnc. The error I kept getting was a noauth error saying that I should enable VNC on the server.
The trick was using kickstart to control ARD and set the vnc password. There was an issue on how the password is to be encoded. But still... no luck for me getting in via vnc.
Another tip was to just copy the plist file of the VNCsettings from another machine.
I was just about to do this option after trying out different command options for kickstart when I was able to get an updated license for ARD. I made sure to enable vnc connections this time around.
So, what lesson did I learn? Make sure that you are not dependent on software that expire.
If you know of the right way to enable vnc via the terminal, please post a comment. Thanks!
Hello to a new year and hopefully a new majill who updates her blog. Happy 2007 everyone! 2007 is gonna be a year of significant changes. I don't want to be stuck wondering anymore.
Its gonna be my high school reunion this year. Imagine, it has been 10 years! Wow. Can't believe it has been that long already.
Its about time to really focus on what I want to do. Maybe this blog will be the outlet for my attempts at finding out what that exactly is.
So read on and feel free to give your comments and suggestions on how I am gonna deal with 2007.
